JUIT has a robust student counselling mechanism in place to facilitate mental wellness of students. For this the following facilities exist.
(a) Student Psychological Counsellor- Dr Shalini Dhadhwal a professional clinical psychologist is on JUIT panel since 2008. She visits JUIT thrice a week for providing psychological counselling for desirous boys and girls. For boys it is conducted in an office located within Parent Lounge and for girls it is conducted in Lady Warden’s office. This service is without any charge to the students.
(b) Online 24X7 Counselling Services- An outsourced Professional Counselling Services by name of YOUR DOST is a Bengaluru based firm with a panel of approx. 800 Counsellors. JUIT has a MOU with them whereby any JUIT student, faculty or staff can utilize this service free of charge.
(c) Student Counselling Centre- A student counselling committee has been notified through an office order which comprises of Senior Faculty, Chief Warden, Lady Warden, Psychologist and student members. A counselling request drop box has been installed outside the Library. Any student can drop a request for any counselling requirement on any kind of matter. He/She shall be contacted confidentially and facilitated in addressing the counselling need.
(d) Student Mentoring - Each Department has faculty mentors nominated for a set of students. These mentors interact with students especially those found weak in academics. They prepare mentoring notes and these are kept in Department. Critical cases are referred to Dean of Students (DOS). DOS calls the students for mentoring and also communicates with parents along with Department Mentoring Notes.
